How Funds will be Used:
TSF aims to enhance and improve mental health and addiction resources and support networks for youth ages 12-29 and their caretakers within Huron and Perth Counties. We maximize our impact by following the evidence, partnering with others in the system, and most of all, listening to youth.
Together, we create a culture of change for youth and their families in Huron and Perth counties, including, but not limited to the following:
-Rapid and easy access
-Stigma free, low-barrier physical and virtual settings
-Evidence-based, youth-specific interventions matched to the level of need
-Early intervention
-Youth and family partnership, engagement and support
-Co-development and collaboration with youth, families, and community
-Authentic partnerships with community service providers
-Peer Support programs and training
-Education and advocacy
-Diversity and inclusion
-Continuous improvement and evaluation
We will use proceeds from this cash calendar to support our TSF Connect project. TSF Connect is all about connecting people together and to community services and resources. TSF Connect does this through:
1. TSF Navigation
If you want to access support for your mental health or substance use or have questions about services in Huron or Perth Counties, reach out to TSF through our dedicated phone line and get connected. Call or text 519-604-HOPE (4673) and speak with our Intake Coordinator and Navigator and get connected. Our Navigator helps youth and their families navigate mental health and substance use resources and networks in Huron and Perth counties by ‘walking’ with clients through their journey. The Navigator will provide information on treatment options and wait times, check in as frequently as requested, empower clients through their recovery process, and more!
2. Peer Support and Counselling
Peer support connects individuals in need of support for mental health and/or substance use to a trained volunteer with lived experience. Peer support is available for youth and for caregivers in individual and group settings.
TSF counselling provides scheduled and drop-in counselling for youth while they wait for long-term support for their mental health and substance use journey.
3. Youth Space
Our Youth Space offers a safe, welcoming, quiet area where youth can gather during specific times to get support, do school work, hang out, and do activities. This ‘third location’ provides a place where youth can be themselves and step away from pressures of home and school.
4. Community Education, Awareness, and Engagement
We offer various community engagement and wellness events, education, training, and keynote speaker sessions for youth, parents, businesses, community members, and our staff. We use these sessions to focus on mental health and wellness, and substance use. The goal is to increase knowledge, understanding, skills, and connections while decreasing stigma of mental health and substance use. We also work to increase brand and organization awareness to increase access to our community services and programs.
5. Let's Get Real: Docu-Series
LET’S GET REAL: Docu-Series is all about sharing stories of struggle, perseverance and recovery. Through topics ranging from mental health and addiction to everything else in between, learn about the troubles and triumphs directly from the voices of those who live it.
6. Youth Advisory Council
The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a group of young people (ages 12-29) who work to address mental health and substance use disorder in Huron and Perth counties. YAC members also volunteer at TSF events and assist in content creation for our Instagram and TikTok accounts. In return, youth gain volunteer hours, an honorarium if 80% of meetings are attended, resume building opportunities, and more!
Funds may be used for any program related activities and expenses.
